Why Your Skin Is Dry (Even Though You Moisturize)

Let’s fix the flake, sis.

Ever slather yourself in body butter only to feel dry again an hour later?
Yep. Been there. The ash struggle is real. But it’s usually not your product—it’s your process.

Here’s what could be drying you out even though you moisturize:

1. You’re applying on dry skin.

Moisture needs moisture.
The best time to apply your body butter or oil? Right after the shower—while your skin is still damp. That’s how you lock in hydration, not just sit on top of dryness.

2. You’re skipping exfoliation.

If dead skin is chilling on the surface, your moisturizer can’t do its job.
Try a gentle body scrub 1–2x a week to give your butter a smooth canvas to melt into.

3. You're using the wrong formula for your skin type.

Thicker body butters are great for dry zones (hi, elbows and knees), but if you're naturally oily or prone to body acne, you might need something lighter—like a whipped formula or dry body oil.

4. Your water is working against you.

Hard water (high in minerals) can strip your skin, leaving it tight and flaky. If you notice dryness after every shower, this could be your culprit. Try shower filters or follow up with a hydrating body mist before your moisturizer.

Glow Tip:

Pair our body butter with a light mist or body oil to seal it in. Hydration first, moisture second. That’s the key.

Bottom line?
Your skin is thirsty and picky. Show it a little extra attention and apply with intention. Your body will thank you.
